Prompt

Use augmented reality to solve a problem.

There are lots of apps for people to create their to-do lists but people can get overwhelmed and not complete their tasks.

    Solution

Design an augmented reality 'pet' that provides emotional support and delight to help you accomplish your tasks.

v1: Optimized for the phone –To solidify the core flow, proof of context and usability.

v2: Aim to develop it for an AR headset

    The Result

    Process

    Research.
    Why are To-Do lists broken?

I researched multiple publications and academic papers to understand the pain points users have with to-do lists. According to the Harvard Business Review, there are few main reasons why to-do lists don't work for some peol.

    1. The paradox of choice
    2. Heterogeneous complexity
    3. Heterogeneous priority
    4. Lack of context
    5. Lack of commitment devices

    Value of Virtual Pets

To understand this emerging space and the potential of AR, I looked at a lot of academic papers.

They showed how anthropomorphism can influence human behavior.

    Framing the Problem

How might hosting real-time, synchronous 3D content open up new value structures between 3D creators and their community?

    Prototyping

    Persona

My main persona centered around this idea of someone that enjoyed an "Animal Teammate"

This directly came from the above stated research papers.

    Information Architecture

I took all the core flows that needed to exist and expressed them as the information architecture below.

    Wireframes

This led me through a series of explorations. I Initially thought of this product within the Google ecosystem but decided that an external product made more sense since it had less dependencies.

V2 - Designing it within it's own ecosystem
